Head Pimples

Pimples may occur on many areas of the body like scalp, shoulders, neck, back and face. Pimples on head are caused when the pores on the skin get blocked and causes inflammation of hair follicles and sebaceous glands. Pimples are a form of acne, present on the body because of many reasons like consuming spicy foods, exposure to sunlight, changes in weather conditions, extreme hot weather conditions, excess intake of caffeine, hormonal imbalances, anxiety and stress, hereditary factors, poor hygiene and deficient diet.

Head pimples are also known as

scalp acne

. It is difficult to treat pimples on the head due to hair on the head. Unlike acne on the areas of the body, these are not visible and hence, is not an embarrassing condition for a person. If scalp acne appear occasionally and don’t bother an individual, it is best leave it untreated and give time to heal. Generally, they disappear in a week time. If the head is entirely covered with sores and pimples, a person requires several measures for preventing the head pimples.

Treatment for Head Pimples:

Salicylic Acid:

Scalp acne can also be treated by applying salicylic acid. Dip a cotton ball in salicylic acid and apply it on the acne affected area. This procedure should be done for a month or until the acne disappears.

Cleanliness:

It is must to maintain hygiene by keeping scalp clean, particularly if hair is oily. Everyday hair washing should be done with a mild shampoo or an oil control shampoo if the hair is extremely oily.

Anti-dandruff Shampoo:

Since dandruff worsens acne, an effective anti-dandruff shampoo must be used for washing hair to get rid of scalp acne. Most anti-dandruff shampoos contain zinc that aids in treating acne.

Benzoyl Peroxide Solution:

For treating scalp acne, hair and scalp must be cleaned with the benzoyl peroxide solution. This is beneficial in the treatment of white pimples on head, that is pimples with pus inside them and that appear white on surface because of it. Such acne on scalp must be left untouched and benzoyl peroxide solution must be applied on them to reduce swelling because bursting them may result in infection. You should be verty cautious regarding the amount of solution used as excess usage may change hair color.
