Pimples on Thighs

Pimples may occur anywhere on the skin, including thighs. When the climate becomes warmer, pimples or heat rashes develop on thighs. In this condition, when thighs skin surface rub against one another, it causes radiating pain and prolongs the healing time. Often, pimples on thighs are due to bacterial infection which requires medical attention.

Causes of Pimples on Thighs:

Undoubtedly, pimples give an unpleasant look to the skin. However, these are caused due to many reasons. Following are some of them:

  • Folliculitis:

    Red pimples on buttocks and thighs are due to hair follicles infection, referred to as

    folliculitis

    . Hair follicles act like hair roots. This is so because, actually hair strand emerges from folliculitis. The infection occurs when the bacteria attack the hair follicles, hair makes the way from the center of pimple. As this is due to bacterial infection, pimples are filled with pus and may cause pain. Burning or itchy sensation is associated with folliculitis.

  • Sweating:

    Excess sweating may trigger pimple formations. Sweating thighs are the most common complaint. Excessive sweating is experienced by the inner thighs. Often, this causes pimples on the inner thighs. Clothes always cover the thigh area and thus, cause have sweaty thighs.

    During summers, the body regulates the temperature by releasing the sweat on the epidermis. Sweat results in the blockage of numerous pores on skin and hence, prevents skin from breathing in air. In these cases, heat rashes or sweat bumps appear on the thighs and other areas. Attires like jeans also cause heavy sweating in thigh region, which results in the development of pimples.

  • Acne:

    This is a skin infection which normally affects back area or facial area. Usually, thigh acne is observed around scrotum. This is often seen in teenagers. These are observed in the form of pimples, whiteheads and blackheads. This is mainly due to heavy production of sebum.

    Sebaceous glands present on the back and face secrete sebum which assists to keep skin moist and also prevents skin dryness. However, malfunctioning of these glands leads to excess production of sebum. Skin is made up of innumerable tiny pores, that get clogged eventually. Bacterial infection, hence leads to the formation of blackheads and pimples.
