Selenium for Acne

Acne is caused due to when sebum and dead skin cells which clog up the pores. This forms the perfect breeding ground for bacteria, which results in acne. There are many treatment options for acne. Whole grains, garlic, cereals, nuts, onions, mushrooms, wheat bran, orange juice, eggs are good sources of selenium. Seafood, meat, and shellfish are other good sources of selenium.

If you would like to take selenium supplements, about 200 to 400 mcg per day is recommended. However, it is better to consult your doctor as excessive selenium dosage can affect your health. (Make sure that your supplementation does not exceed 400 mcg.)
