Scalp pimples or pimples on the scalp is a skin condition which is common and occurs in people of all age groups. Inflammation of hair follicles is the most common cause for the outbreak of scalp pimples. They are itchy, sensitive and can cause a lot of frustration. They are small and filled with pus. Brushing or combing the hair can be really painful as the scalp pimples are very sensitive to touch.
Causes of Scalp Pimples
The exact cause for the outbreak of scalp pimples is still unknown. The common explanation given is that the micro-organisms or bacteria are responsible for the breakout of scalp pimples. Allergic reactions to chemicals present in shampoos or hair conditioners may also cause scalp pimples. Dead skin cells and excessive oil may clog the skin pores and lead to inflammation of the hair follicles. They serve as an ideal breeding ground for the growth and spread of bacteria.
