Many people associate oily skin with acne. However, this is not always true. People with dry skin can have a hard time with acne. The skin dries up and results in flakiness, aggravating the acne. Dry skin is caused when the moisture is lost. Hence, proper moisturizing on a daily basis can help in preventing dry skin.
How to Prevent Dry Skin Acne:
Here are few tips to prevent acne caused due to dry skin:
- Moisturize: A moisturizer can restore the lost moisture and can prevent dry skin. Showers can dry the skin excessively. Hence, use a moisturizer within five minutes after your shower. Many moisturizers containing mineral oil, glycerin and mineral oil do a good job in restoring the moisture.
- Use Jojoba Oil: Jojoba oil, which is derived from the seeds of jojoba plant, is a good moisturizer. Its chemical structure is closely related our sebum. It also has anti-bacterial properties which help in clearing up acne. So, use jojoba oil for getting rid of acne and dry skin.
- Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA): Products containing AHAs help in moisturizing and they also reduce the flakiness
In addition to the above, avoid using harsh cleansers for skin care. They can further dry your skin. Also put on sunscreen to protect your skin from the harmful UV rays. Moisturizing can help in getting rid of dry skin to a great extent. If you are worried about clogged pores, a regular routine of cleansing with mild cleanser and exfoliation can keep your acne away.
