Glycolic Acid Acne Treatment

Glycolic acid belongs to a group of chemicals known as alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA). It is considered to be one of the effective treatments for acne. Glycolic acids works by loosening up the outer dead layers of the skin, and removing the plugs which block the follicles. Glycolic acid chemical peels are especially helpful in treating acne.

How Does Glycolic Acid Acne Treatment Work?
Glycolic acid works as an exfoliating agent. It loosens up the bond present in the outer layers of the skin. After the glue which holds the outer skin layers is loosened, rinsing the skin with water helps in getting rid of the dead outer skin. In the process, the acne-producing plugs of the skin are removed. This will reduce the inflammation and the acne would eventually clear up.
