Acne is caused due to excessive production of sebum. The sebum and dead skin cells block the skin cell pores, which makes it an ideal breeding ground for bacteria. The bacteria acts on the sebum and results in inflammation of skin and formation of acne. Fish oil not only reduces the inflammation, but it also has anti-bacterial properties. Thus it is an effective remedy for acne.
How Does Fish Oil Clear Acne?
Fish oil contains omega-3 fatty acids such as docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), which have anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. Fish oil firstly reduces the inflammation. Excess sebum in the skin can lead to inflammation – fish oil controls the acne by by reducing the inflammation.
Secondly, the fish oil works by acting against the bacteria. The bacteria acts on the sebum, resulting in acne. Fish oil for acne works due to its anti-bacterial properties.
