Pimples, acne and scars can be an annoying and embarrassing affair for both teenagers and adults alike. Shed your inhibitions about a blemished face and walk the world with confidence by treating your oily skin.
Causes or reasons for oily skin: This is caused due to the overactive function of the sebaceous glands, which eventually starts producing excess oil. The skin pores get enlarged at this stage, and the skin appears oily and shiny. This condition is ruled by various reasons such as these:
- Genes
- Improper or insufficient diet
- The hormonal levels
- Use of cosmetics
- Constant exposure to heat and humidity
- Pregnancy or birth control pills
Tips to treat oily skin:
- Wash your face at least three times a day with an effective cleanser. This prevents the pores from getting blocked.
- Carry an oil control film when you are outside home. Wash when you feel that your face is getting too oily.
- Avoid cosmetics as they cause the skin to peel off. They can also lead to a reaction called Reactive Seborrhea, where the oil glands become overactive to compensate the loss of natural oils from the skin.
- Avoid cleansers and lotions with alcohol.
- Try using oil-based cleansers and oil free moisturizers to keep the skin supple and glowing.
- Avoid excess of sugar, salt and fats in your diet.
- Include vitamins in your diet, especially Vitamin B2 and Vitamin C, which are considered essential to keep the skin firm and pimple free, respectively.
- Drink plenty of water.
