Tips to Prevent Acne

Posted on March 22, 2008 in Latest News

From a bubbly teenager to a lady who has almost touched her menopause, acne can affect anyone. It can mar many a beautiful face and leave scars even after the swelling has subsided. According to the National Institutes of Health, nearly 85 percent of adolescents and young adults between the ages of 12 and 24 develop the condition, and some people continue to be affected into their forties and fifties.

The temptation to scratch, pick, squeeze or pop a pimple can be intense, but the consequences just are not worth it. You run the risk of pushing the bacteria from the pimple further into the skin and causing more inflammation and infection.

Here are some tips from Baker for people of any age who want to keep their skin clear:

Be careful of your face products: Use a mild cleanser no more than twice a day and gently wash and dry your skin. Apply a noncomedogenic (won’t clog your pores) sunscreen.

Maintain a healthy diet:  A good diet is an effective tool in controlling acne, especially fruits and vegetables rich in antioxidants, combined with adequate protein.  A healthy and well-balanced diet affects the health and efficiency of the body and that includes the skin.  Every organ in your body relies upon the same vitamins, minerals and nutrients to function.  Since the skin is at the end of the food line, it suffers greatly from an improperly balanced diet.  Foods with high antioxidant content (colorful fruits and vegetables) are very helpful in promoting the healing of acne infections.

Go for prescribed medication: Use topical treatments, such as Nature’s Cure Vanishing Cream, anywhere that you tend to get breakouts — don’t just spot-treat existing pimples. The pore-clogging process happens two to three weeks before any blemish becomes visible on the skin.
