Beside improved insulin sensitivity, eating low glycemic diet has lots of benefits. Latest research shows that low glycemic diet has the ability to clear your acne. According to the previous research data excess of glycemic enhances the development of acne.
On the basis previous research findings a research hypothesis was prepared to check the impact of diet on acne. The research was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Robyn N. Smith of RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. They assessed the symptoms of acne in male patients of age group 15-25 years. They were randomly allocated for 12 weeks to normal diet or diet with low glycemic concentration.
The research findings were published in American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in July issue.
There was a significant reduction in total acne development in low glycemic diet as compared to normal diet. In addition to this there was a significant loss in body mass and body weight and improved insulin sensitivity.
The research findings supported the theory of relationship between high insulin level and acne. Researches could not develop the relationship between low glycemic diet and weight loss.
Beans or fiber rich cereals have low glycemic index and produce changes gradually. Foods like potatoes and white bread are known to create high glycemic load. So if you want to clear up your acne fast then cut down your glycemic intake.
