Acne is the most common inflammatory skin problem. Acne is also known as zits, spots or pimples. When excess of sebum is produced, it blocks the open pores and results in pimple formation. Hormonal imbalance, food allergies, stress or certain medication can trigger the over secretion of sebum. You can treat acne by using certain herbs, which are as follows
- Aloe Vera Gel: It is applied topically and has antibacterial and astringent properties. It also has anti-inflammatory, immune stimulant and laxative properties. It is rich in Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphorous, Potassium, Zinc, Iron, Folate, Vitamin A, C and E. Its juice can also be taken internally, although it is not safe to use during pregnancy and if you are suffering from diarrhea.
- Lavender: It helps in the compression of inflammation. Its essential oil has antiseptic properties which make it useful for treating acne, fungus, eczema and other skin ailments. It is also helpful in treating insomnia, yeast infection, psoriasis, headache, anxiety etc. But be careful while using this herb as it stimulates the bile secretion especially for the people suffering from gallstones.
- Calendula:It enhances the skin healing property and this herb is rich in anti-bacterial, analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. It is applied topically and it is present in many facial creams. It is also helpful in treating conjunctivitis, bowel diseases, gastritis and allergies.
- Tea Tree Oil: It is the most effective antiseptic and should be diluted before applying topically. It also has anti-fungal and anti-bacterial property. It is used as first aid against various skin infection and ailments.
These herbs are useful in treating acne successfully but use them under the proper guidance of a dermatologist.
