Acne is the most common skin problem usually observed during the teenage of a person. Acne is commonly called as pimples, spots or zits. Acne appears as an inflammation or eruption on the skin. Acne is caused as a result of malfunction of pilosebaceous glands of the skin. A pilosebaceous gland contains the hair shaft, hair follicle and sebaceous gland. Sebaceous gland secretes oil substance known as sebum which lubricates and protects the skin from primary infection. Excessive secretion of oil or sebum from sebaceous gland accompanying blocking of the pores results in the formation of acne.

- Sticky and Oily skin
- Hormonal changes
- Bacterial infection
- Stress and tension
- Poor hygiene
- Nutrition
Acne affected person experience itching and discomfort. Acne not only appears on the facial skin but also observed on the neck and chest region. Treatment follows up with the application of topical bactericidal ointments, topical antibiotics and even sometimes oral antibiotics. Person may even undergo laser treatment, ozone treatment and phototherapy.
Prevention of acne
- Remove excess of oil by washing your face.
- Try to avoid intake of fatty, oily and greasy food
- Drink a lot of water
- Do not touch the affected region
- Do not squeeze the pimple
- Include a lot of fruits and green vegetables in you diet
- Rich Vitamin E diet
Dried orange peel, rose water, sandal wood powder, used tea bags, gram flour etc are used as home remedies for the treatment of acne. Lastly, it’s always better to consult a good dermatologist and strictly follow his instructions.
